Ok, So Blog A Day Number 12 A Tale Of Two Canaries

(Warning - nerdspeak about to start in 3...2..)

 So, this was announced today.

Let me say this about it.  I was not a big fan of Caity Lotz when she came on to Arrow last season.  We made fun of her weird pouting and trying to speak all American-ese with her accent.  But by the end of the season, she earned her place on the show.  She looked the part and, her acting improved, the costume made more sense (even using leather strips through the pants to give us the idea of the famous fishnets) and as I have said on the show, it was AWESOME for a fan of the character of Black Canary to see her regularly on a high(ish) rated television show.  We never got the Canary Cry, with the exception of the use of some tech that was pretty brilliant, but that's ok.

Then on the first episode of the current season, this happened.


Now, anyone who knows the history of the character knows that LAUREL Lance is BC, and since she has been on the show since day one, it quickly became clear that the plan was for her to take over for her sister and become the new Canary.  I can see that, I guess.  That's not the problem.

Has anyone WATCHED the actress playing Laurel act?  She's horrible.

You also have to take into consideration a couple of things.  1.)  BC1 was trained for years as a member of the League of Assassins.  Laurel is going to take over for her sister after taking boxing classes from Hot Latino Trainer Guy for a couple of weeks?  Also, that shit wig!  The weird shiny greasy hair look is not strong at all.  I'm assuming that it will 1.) Be changed to look a LITTLE more realistic and/or 2.) look better on TV.

As far as the costume goes, It's ok, I guess.  I like the homages to the classic costume that the first costume had, but the new costume still works in the way that the Arrow's costume works on the show.  And, you know, it could have been a WHOLE lot worse.....
